Obituary of Durvis Swallow
Durvis Swallow, 77 of Oakdale passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2016 at Eunice Extended Care Hospital.
Mr.Swallow was a native of Mamou. He was a self-employed auto mechanic for many years and enjoyed carpentry, mechanics and working with electrical items.
Mr. Swallow was preceded in death by his parents, Nelson Swallow and Mable Pete Swallow, brothers, Jerry Swallow & Dudley Swallow.
He leaves to morn his passing his wife, Irene Hall-Swallow, daughters, Marlene Handy and Iran Brock both of Houston, TX, sons, Hubert Brock II of Hinesville, GA, Harold Brock of Oakdale, LA, Sisters, Tammy St.Andrews, Andrea Sheila Jackson & Pearlanna Carron all of Port Arthur, TX, sister-in-law, Loreane Hall-Luter of Covington, LA, 13 grandchildren and six great-grand children.
A viewing will be held from 9am-11am on Saturday, March 26 at Greater Hayes Chapel AME Church, 602 Mill St. Oakdale, the funeral service conducted by Rev. Lawson will begin at 11 am, burial will follow services at Oakdale Community Cemetery. Mr. Swallow's care was entrusted to Evins, Larry & Perry Family Funeral Home, 412 Canady St., Oakdale.
