Edward Webb Sr., 81 passed away at his home on April 4, 2016 surround by his family. Born on September 23, 1934 Edward was a native of Tete Cove, LA and live in Oakdale for many years. Edward received his formal education in Oakdale, LA, a year prior to graduating from high school Edward left home to attend military school; after completing his military education in 1952 he returned home to graduate with his Allen High school class of 1953. Edward enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1952, where he served his country faithfully for 22 years before retiring in 1974. Bro. Edward was very active in his community. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church where he was baptized at an early age. Bro. Edward was a 32 degree Mason and was Past Excellent High Priest (Royal Arch Masons), Past Master of Joppa Lodge 136 Prince Hall Affiliate, Oakdale LA where he was currently serving as Master Advisor and Leader of Knights of Pythagoras. He also served diligently for many years with the VFW Oakdale Post. Bro. Edward enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved hunting and fishing and bowled for many years on the Commercial League in Alexandria. Bro. Edward was preceded in death by his parents Leon Webb and Henrietta Raney Webb, his son, Edward Webb Jr. and Sister Elaine Lasiter. Bro. Edward leaves to celebrate his memory his wife, Selena K Freeman Webb, sons, Clyde P. Webb Sr., and Gordon D. Webb Sr., brother Leo Webb Sr. all of Oakdale, 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. A wake will take place on Friday, April 8 from 7pm to 9pm at Shiloh Baptist Church, 707 E Jackson St, Oakdale. Also at the church, a viewing will be held from 11am-1pm on Saturday, April 9, followed by funeral service conducted under the leadership of Rev. Aaron Taylor at 1pm. A burial with honors will take place at Glenmora Community Cemetery following services.
